Senior Therapeutic Care Worker

Gloucestershire Full £38,000 - £40,000

Closing date: 30 June 2026

We are seeking an experienced Senior Therapeutic Care Worker (STCW) or a qualified Therapeutic Care Worker ready to progress into a supervisory role. This position offers an opportunity to make a lasting impact on young lives by providing compassionate, trauma-informed care within a stable and well-supported environment.

Work that genuinely changes lives
At Genesis, we give young people aged 6 to 21 something many of them have never had: a stable, nurturing home where they feel safe enough to heal. The children in our care have come through significant trauma, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or deeply challenging circumstances — and our job is to walk alongside them as they rebuild.
Our homes sit in beautiful Gloucestershire and Worcestershire border settings, with clinical and educational expertise woven into everyday care. We also run our own specialist SEN school, so every young person gets the learning and emotional support they need to thrive.
The role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Therapeutic Care Worker — or a qualified Therapeutic Care Worker ready to step up into a supervisory role. This is a chance to lead from the front, shape the day-to-day care of young people, and make a lasting difference, all within a small, well-supported team that has your back.
What you'll be doing

Supervising and supporting a dedicated team of care workers
Leading daily routines and upholding high standards of care and safeguarding
Helping plan and deliver individualised support plans
Offering consistent emotional, social and behavioural guidance to young people
Working closely with our management and therapeutic teams
Keeping documentation up to date and supporting staff development

What we're looking for

A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential)
At least 2 years' experience in a care setting (preferred)
A caring, emotionally resilient nature and a genuine commitment to safeguarding
The confidence to lead, guide and mentor less experienced colleagues
Solid written and organisational skills for managing documentation and compliance
A valid UK manual driving licence (essential — you'll be transporting young people)
Availability to work flexible shifts across a 7-day rota, including weekends and sleep-ins

You might also bring:

Creative, practical or interpersonal skills — music, sport, DIY, IT or tutoring all add real value
An understanding of Ofsted or CQC expectations (training can be provided)

Whether you're already in a senior role, returning to work with care experience behind you, or simply seeking work that means something, we'd love to hear from you.
Essential criteria

Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS clearance (company funded)
Aged 21 or over (in line with regulatory requirements)
Willingness to work a varied shift pattern
